Tell us a bit about your role.
As Managing Director of Worldwide Education Recruitment, I have the privilege of leading our fantastic team and driving the growth of the business. My role is all about setting the vision, supporting our consultants, and making sure we continue to provide an outstanding service to schools, nurseries, and candidates alike.
What I love most about my role is the difference we make. Education is such an important sector and knowing that we’re helping to place the right people in the right settings — people who will go on to inspire and support the next generation — is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of the culture we’ve built within Worldwide Education Recruitment: a supportive, driven, and passionate team who share the same values and commitment to excellence,
For me, it’s all about planning and prioritising. I start each day by mapping out the key tasks I need to focus on, and I always tackle the most important or challenging ones first. I also try to block out time in my diary for deep work, so I’m not constantly switching between tasks. Another big one is delegation — as an MD it’s important to trust and empower the team, so I focus on the areas where I can add the most value and let my team shine in theirs. Also, Microsoft Task tool is a must, and I can’t live without WhatsApp Voice Recorder.
What inspired you to start your own company?
Madness – Not – I wanted to be able to provide education and care to all students to make a positive impact to their worlds. I also wanted to show my daughter Victoria that through hard work, education, passion and determination that the world is her oyster, and I feel that I have achieved this as she is a successful young woman in her own right.
What sets your company apart from your competitors?
My team sets us apart. They are great. I have members of my team who have been with me over 8 years. They work to ensure all our candidates and clients are 100% supported and that our compliance is one of the strongest on the market.
How did you get into what you’re doing now?
I moved to the UK in 2012 with my partner Gary for work, and had the opportunity to work in education recruitment, I thrived in this role and so when the opportunity arose to be able to open my own business I took the chance.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?
Research your market well, make sure you hire the right people to help you build a successful business and always have a great support system in place because you definitely will need this.
What’s the best piece of advice you have received?
When you get knocked down, dust yourself off and get back up stronger and more determined. Also tomorrow is another day.
If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Gary, Karen Brady and Martha Stewart. Why? Both ladies have shown determination, strength and passion for their chosen careers and even when the chips are down, they have always found a way forward. They have shown women all over the world that it is possible to be a successful female entrepreneur and a mother/partner/wife. Gary because he always made me laugh.
What has been your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement in business is winning Thames Valley Female Entrepreneur 2023 with my team’s support and dedication.
