A Chat with… Wayne (Member)

Wayne Reynolds

As he would describe himself, Wayne is a big friendly giant. If you don’t know him, you might be wary to chat to him, given his rock and roll biker aesthetic. But our Wayne has a big heart and is one of our most friendly members, so if you do see him in the kitchens, please do have a chat.

Having been with the company for only 3 years, he is a dedicated member of their team and a leader for the few who work from our space. We love having him about and are keen for you to read his story.

Tell us a bit about your role.

I’m a Project Manager at Envevo Ltd, having joined in December 2022, but I’ve been working in the utilities industry for nearly a decade. What I enjoy most about my role is the relationship management aspect—whether it’s collaborating with clients, supporting colleagues, or coordinating with the skilled contractors who I pull in to deliver our projects. Every day brings something different, and I enjoy the variety and the people I get to work with.

If you could have lunch with any three people (dead or alive) who would they be and why?

My Dad, he passed Just before I was 21 and we have a lot to catch up on!

Taylor Hawkins, drummer from Foo Fighters – I bet he has some stories to tell

My great friend Kevin, we always have a lot to talk about and more importantly, laugh about

What’s the best thing you’ve learnt from a colleague?

Try not to react immediately to a tricky situation, sometimes we all need to pause a little before responding

What has been your proudest achievement, whether personal or work related?

My son Lukas – he has just turned 19 and a decent young man with a passion now for travelling.

How did you get into what you’re doing now?

I trained as an Electrician and worked in that field for around 30 years.  I’ve always been able to understand what is required from all the trades and put this to use when managing specific projects for a previous employer.  In time I moved on to a Construction Engineer role and then to Project Management.

What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced?

One of my biggest challenges was transitioning from being an Electrician to a Project Manager!   It meant shifting from hands-on technical work to leading teams, managing budgets, and thinking strategically. I had to quickly learn new tools, adapt to project planning processes, and develop strong communication and leadership skills.

However, the experience taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to deliver my role effectively.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Link?

The facilities!  I’m loving having an onsite gym and subsidised restaurant.

If you weren’t doing your current job, what would you be doing?

I’d be tinkering on motorbikes in a garage somewhere in the remote Highlands
